Where passion meets expertise
What we have at Aloha is a dedicated and professional surf school that really takes the time to teach people to surf and understand the surfing experience.
Meet the Aloha Team
The surf school was set up in 2004 by husband and wife team Pete and Ali.
Pete has been surfing for over 30 years and coaching surfing for over 20 years. In addition to his Beach Lifeguard and Surf Coach qualifications, Pete is also Beach and Pool Lifeguard Trainer and Assessor and trains Lifeguards year round up and down the country. He is also a qualified swim teacher and previously worked for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) as Coastal Safety Manager of their drowning prevention work in Ireland.
Ali brings her own unique expertise to the table as an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Doctor and Surgeon, bringing a balance of passion and precision to the surf school's daily operations. With all of this experience you can be assured you are in safe and experienced hands.
More Than Just Lessons
At our surf school, we don't just offer lessons; we aim to inspire a lifelong love affair with the ocean. Our instructors are all passionate surfers and don’t just see you as another student – we see you as a fellow adventurer ready to embrace learning to surf and catching waves. Unlike crowded group sessions with minimal guidance, we prioritize quality coaching, ensuring each wave you catch is a moment of personal triumph.
We believe surfing isn't just a sport; it's a way of life. That's why we're dedicated to not only teaching you how to ride the waves but also instilling in you a profound respect and appreciation for the ocean. With us, you'll not only leave a surfer but also with a newfound perspective on the beauty and transformative power of the sea. Learn to surf with us and embark on a lifelong love of catching waves.
Where Experience Leads the Way Since 2004
One of Ireland's longest-standing surf schools, Aloha Surf School was founded in 2004, marking our 20th year of sharing the joy of surfing. After gaining experience in surf schools both at home and abroad, including co-running our sister Aloha Surf School in Brazil, Pete returned to his roots where he first caught the surfing bug. Starting with just seven surfboards out of a van, surfing was still a relatively unknown pastime in Ireland.
Since those humble beginnings 20 years ago, we've blossomed, introducing countless people to the exhilarating world of surfing. Many of our past students have gone on to become instructors themselves, and some have even established their own surf schools. Our motivation stems from a deep love for the sport. Safety and enjoyment are paramount to us. Our backgrounds in water safety, lifeguarding, and medicine, coupled with an unwavering passion for surfing, ensure every adventure with us is both thrilling and secure.
Aloha's Green Commitment
Surfing isn't just a sport for us – it's a way of life that intertwines with our commitment to preserving our remarkable environment. We're privileged to run our surf lessons in one of the only 3 UNESCO Geoparks in Ireland. Internationally recognised places with unique geology, landscapes, history and culture. Our surf lessons take place amidst this stunning backdrop, and it's our duty to ensure we leave minimal impact on this pristine landscape.
Join us not only for the thrill of surfing but also for a shared commitment to safeguarding our environment. Together, we can help preserve the beauty of our planet for future surfers to enjoy.
