Great location, good surf, really friendly and attentive instructors with cake and coffee to round things off. Had a brilliant afternoon surfing with Aloha. Son wasn’t sure before we arrived, but as we drove down and he saw the awesome surf he immediately changed his mind. Peter and Ali quickly had us kitted out in wetsuits and bootees, and we headed down to the beach. It’s a wonderful location - gentle sloping beach meaning we could start off in knee-waist deep water (this was our first time ever) - felt very safe - before venturing slightly further out. We had really good instruction from Jude (a former student at Aloha, who just loved it so much he kept coming back until they made him part of the team!) - we both got up on the boards fairly quickly and had an absolute blast. Our hard afternoon’s play was adequate justification for us to tuck into delicious smoothies / iced coffee / doughnut etc from their coffee van ‘Skylarks’ - really hit the spot. Son seems convinced he was the superior surfer - looking forward to a return trip, when we can test this again 😀

Our highlight of a full week staying in Galway with two teenagers was a surf lesson at aloha surf school. It was a beautiful ride through the Burren, a good surf spot en very friendly people! Our family had so much fun doing a two hour surf lesson. It was cold and rainy but once our wet suits were on we felt warm. Jude was a great teacher and our kids want to go back again tomorrow to practice their surfing skills. A definite highlight of our trip!

Everyone at Aloha surf school/rentals was awesome. My family and I traveled over from Florida for a few weeks and had to get in a surf. We weren’t able to travel with our own gear so thankfully we found Aloha! Super pleasant staff and at an amazingly beautiful location. We will definitely be telling all our friends and family to seek them out if they go to Ireland. Can’t say enough good things about all the staff there. The equipment was clean and readily available! If you have trouble contacting them use What’sApp, I had a response in minutes and they even gave me up to date conditions for the surf. Thanks again for your hospitality!

FAQ

How do we book?

We schedule in these sessions at a time that suits you. Get in touch via email or phone to book in your session

Is all the equipment included?

Yes all equipment is included, You just need your swim gear, towel and some warm clothes for afterwards. We provide surfboards, warm wetsuits and boots. In the colder months we also provide gloves and hoods

Do you need to be a good swimmer?

Our lessons are held in maximum waist depth water with an instructor in the water at all times. However you do need to have some basic swimming ability and be able to thread water

What are the lesson times?

Private Group Lessons are not on our booking calendar. You let us know when you are available to surf and we can schedule in a time that suits your group

What if conditions are unsuitable??

We always run in the rain as you’re getting wet anyway! If it looked like sea conditions were going to be unsuitable, we would get in touch to let you know and reschedule or refund. Please check our Terms and Conditions for more details

Are there toilets and showers available?

Yes there are toilets at the beach and also outdoor showers available

Do you provide transport?

No we do not provide transport. We can recommend local bus providers or check out our Find Us page for transport options

Do you provide accommodation?

No we don’t provide accommodation. If you get in touch we can recommend local accommodation providers
